My passion is caring
for babies and mothers

About me

From an early age I was passionate about caring for new born babies and their mothers, and my career has always been intimately linked to the two. This passion originated alongside my prematurely born cousin when I was in my teens. Visiting him in the neonatal intensive care unit and seeing him so small and fragile, I knew at that very moment that this was my calling.

From that moment I dedicated my life to becoming a nurse, and since 2009 I have worked as a neonatal intensive care nurse in Barcelona, Spain, bringing prematurely born babies and unwell babies back to good health. In 2020 I moved to London and began working as a maternity nurse and realised how lonely and lost some of the mothers were when it came to breastfeeding, without any family members around to help. This led to the birth of ‘Carla Corral – Lactation Consultant.’

You may be thinking, how is this related to becoming an IBCLC? (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant), and the answer is quite simple, “all of these babies have a mother to look after too.” I would commonly come across mothers in need of help, and over time my passion has evolved into becoming an IBCLC, training both physically and emotionally unprepared mothers to not only care for their new-borns, but also feel confident and empowered with their new roles and responsibilities.

I understand that each and every mother is different. I achieve the most success by working with mothers and utilising both my experience and the most up to date research in the field, developing a personalised program based on individual needs, and supporting you to confidently make choices that you feel are right for you, your baby and your family. Offering guidance and assistance to achieve individual feeding goals without any judgement.
