My passion is caring
for babies and mothers

About Me

Caring for newborns and their mothers has been my passion for as long as I can remember. It all began in my teens when my cousin was born prematurely. Visiting him in the neonatal intensive care unit, so small and fragile, I knew in that moment that this was what I was meant to do.

Determined to make a difference, I pursued a career in nursing and, since 2009, have worked as a neonatal intensive care nurse in Barcelona, helping premature and unwell babies regain their strength. In 2020, I moved to London and began working as a maternity nurse, where I saw first-hand how many new mothers felt lost and unsupported when it came to breastfeeding, particularly without family nearby to guide them.

That’s when ‘Carla Corral – Lactation Consultant’ was born. My mission is to provide expert, compassionate care, ensuring that every mother feels confident and supported on her breastfeeding journey.

My Journey to Becoming an IBCLC

Working as a neonatal nurse, I saw how many mums felt unprepared for breastfeeding and in need of guidance. Over time, my passion grew into supporting both babies and mothers, leading me to become an IBCLC.

Personalised Support for Every Mother

Every mum’s journey is different. I focus on listening, understanding, and offering genuinely tailored, compassionate support, helping you feel confident in your feeding choices, whether breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or both.

Empowering Mothers with Confidence

There’s no right way, only your way. My goal is to encourage, not judge, helping you gently navigate breastfeeding, weaning, or any challenges so you feel supported, reassured, and confident in your choices.

My Qualifications & Expertise

As a neonatal intensive care nurse (NICU) and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), my qualifications are rooted in both medical training and hands-on experience.

I’ve spent years supporting newborns and their mothers, combining evidence-based knowledge with a compassionate approach. I continue to learn and grow to provide the best possible care for the families I work with.

I also completed additional training as a Specialist in Paediatric Sleep Intervention, enhancing the help I can offer families around infant sleep challenges.

What Does IBCLC Mean & How Do You Qualify?

An IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) is a specialist in breastfeeding and infant feeding, trained to provide expert, evidence-based support for parents and babies. This internationally recognised qualification is the highest standard in lactation care.

To qualify, an IBCLC must complete at least 95 hours of lactation-specific education, including 5 hours on communication skills, plus 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice. This ensures they have the knowledge and hands-on experience to support families with confidence and compassion.
